The 2.0 MWel / 5.6 MWth biomass CHP plant (Cycleenergy Gresten GmbH) is located in the densely forested region of Eisenwurzen in Lower Austria. The CHP plant produces approx. 16,000 MWh of renewable electricity per year, which is fed into the local power grid.
In addition, Cycleenergy operator supplies up to 10,000 MWh of heat to the local heat grid operator supplying the municipality of Gresten and its approx. 2,000 inhabitants plus several companies in the area.
The pellet business of Cycleenergy is focused on delivering regional customers with the highest quality and reliability. The new pellet plant in Gresten (Cycleenergy Pelletsproduktions GmbH) was built within just 7 months and went into operation in the second quarter of 2017. This was primarily possible because 95% of the project volume was contractually assigned to family-owned businesses, long-term partners and highly reliable companies, most of them located within a radius of 150 km of Gresten.
